2016-Ongoing
Scattering is the redirection of incoming sunlight by atmospheric molecules and small particles, causing different wavelengths of light to spread through the sky and produce its characteristic colors.
Scattering is a photographic series inspired by the shifting skies above Biscayne Bay in Miami. What began as spontaneous images developed into an ongoing daily practice, observing changing light, storms, and color across the horizon. The series centers on the experience of the sublime, the sense of awe that emerges when encountering a scale or beauty beyond oneself. Through multi-panel compositions that echo the scattering of light in the atmosphere, bursts of color, clouds, and luminous gradients unfold across the images. In a time of digital overload, Scattering invites viewers to linger and reconnect with the natural world. Hundreds of these skyscapes have been captured to date.
In Scattering | Clusters, the project evolves into a multimedia series, translating the skies’ colors into sound. These multisensory portraits offer a pause from our overstimulated lives, encouraging a deeper connection to nature.
