Cardinal Series, Site Portrait: Dashilar explores the significance of cardinal directions, it’s functionality and the symbolic nature that has brought innate cultural relevance and growth.

This is expressed as a photographic and sound installation but is translated for Beijing Design Week as a sculptural place marker aligned in its context to north, south, east, west, center. These cardinal directions are also designated by color, in this case through azure, vermillion, black, white and yellow. There is also seasonal, material, and mythological reference with these directions that have served as a structural outline for city development and landscape architecture in various parts of the country. Cardinal Series, Site Portrait is a continuing series.

This exhibition was supported by the Dutch Salon.
